New Publication: Ballybrilliant: Heritage-led Regeneration in 5 Irish Towns

Nuacht

Read all about how communities in 5 Irish towns have worked together to ensure that their town remains vibrant but also true to its origin and identity.

This publication features five Irish towns - Carlingford, Westport, Tramore, Fethard and Youghal - where communities have worked to ensure that their town remains vibrant but also true to its origin and identity. This is heritage-led regeneration, where heritage is a resource to promote and create interesting places. These case studies demonstrate the need for leadership and people-centred responses in our towns.

Baile is the Irish for a townland, a town, or homestead. In Irish placenames it normally precedes a person’s name or a description of a geographic feature. In this case, we created the imaginary name of Ballybrilliant. In Ireland, we have not yet established how heritage-led regeneration has developed in our smaller towns. Ballybrilliant seeks to remedy this.
