Certified course in Blacksmithing & Ironcraft

Starting next September, Limerick Clare ETB are offering a full time City & Guilds certified course in Blacksmithing & Ironcraft.

This foundation course in all the fundamental skills of blacksmithing, will include learning to forge to industry standards, to industry timelines, and to industry specifications. All avenues are open, farriery, artist blacksmithing and traditional blacksmithing when these skills are attained. With training blacksmiths will be able to repair, restore and conserve our heritage ironwork. The trainer is Eric O'Neill, City and Guilds Tutor, and professional blacksmith, Member of Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths and member of National Heritage Iron Group (NHIG), U.K. The course will cost €700. It will be delivered at Limerick College of Further Education, Cappamore Campus.

And starting at the end of May, Eric will be giving introductory modules running over the summer months. This will consist of four four-hour sessions on four different days, to see if people would really be interested in the actual training, including its physical aspects.
