Book and Paper Conservation Internship at Trinity College Dublin Library

The Heritage Council of Ireland and The Library of Trinity College Dublin are pleased to offer a twelve-month internship in book and paper conservation.

The Heritage Council and The Library of Trinity College Dublin are pleased to offer a twelve-month internship in book and paper conservation. The internship will be based at Trinity College Library Dublin and will begin in October 2026.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of senior conservators in the Preservation & Conservation Department and will be allocated specific items for treatment. 

The intern will be also involved in many aspects of the daily work carried out by the department concerning collections care across all the library's holdings of 7 million modern works and over 700,000 special collection items. The internship projects will be primarily the conservation of manuscripts and books held in the library's special collections, as well as exhibitions preparation, and housing projects.

Candidates should be recent graduates (within two years) of a recognised book or paper conservation training program or have equivalent experience. The applicant must be eligible to work in Ireland and should demonstrate an interest in the conservation of cultural heritage in Ireland.

It should also include why they wish to take up this internship and confirm their eligibility to work in Ireland.

Stipend: €35,000 (subject to normal PRSI and PAYE deductions).
