Jamie McNamara holds a Post Grad Diploma in Applied Building Repair from Trinity College Dublin plus an MA in Conservation of the Historic Environment from Birmingham City University. Ha has also just embarked on an MSc in Building Surveying at Northumbria University.
Currently based in Glasgow, he has worked with the conservation of canals, churches and championing the traditional skills sector.
Jamie has also worked on historic town regeneration schemes and managing building repair grants.
Jamie’s current role is advising community groups all over Scotland on how best to approach the conservation/regeneration of a historic asset or place focusing on such key areas as the correct conservation approach, effective governance and project planning.
Jamie has a keen interest in the adaptive reuse of buildings at risk and the vital part these buildings play in the regeneration of our village and towns. By harnessing our existing historic building stock, we can incorporate these into being a solution orientated approach to the green agenda, sustainability and achieving net zero carbon. As well as being the current Chairperson of SPAB Scotland, he is also a SPAB Ireland Guardian and a SPAB Trustee.
He is a full and active member of the IHBC, an active runner and rubbish guitar player!
