The Tralee Town Centre Health Check Report 2017 focuses on the survey results of a number of key indicators of the overall health of the town centre including: level of town centre activities, land use/commercial mix, pedestrian footfall patterns and business operators and shoppers’ perceptions of the quality of the environment of the historic county town. 

This manual provides guidance on understanding and recording monuments, care and conservation, interpretation, communications, funding as well as health and safety. Aimed at the participants of our Adopt a Monument Programme but also communities the length and breadth of Ireland, and even internationally, who are interested in engaging in heritage projects.

Many Irish towns have unique features - significant historical monuments, beautiful riverside walks and fine architectural

heritage. This publication aims to celebrate these individual attributes that add so much distinctive character to our towns for locals and visitors to enjoy.

Over the past ten years the heritage council has sought via the Irish Walled Towns Network, community-led village design statements, the heritage officer network and the pilot historic towns initiative to empower the residents of ireland’s town and villages through knowledge and modest financial support. 

This report, commissioned by The Heritage Council and researched by Ignite Research provides a snapshot of what people think about Irish towns and what people expect from the areas they wish to live in.
