Court Abbey is a mid-fifteenth century Franciscan Friary prominently located below Knocknashee in south Sligo.
All that now remains of the original friary is the church which stands in a graveyard, so many 19th century and 20th century burials can be seen around and even within the ruins. The rectangular church has an impressive central tower and a transept added to its south side in around the 16th century.
Much of the ruins are completely obscured by extensive ivy growth, but a number of interesting features can still be seen including side altars, piscinas and even patches of original plaster with traces of medieval wall paintings.
