SuperValu 2019 Tidy Towns Competition Now Open for Applications

News /

The Heritage Award, sponsored by the Heritage Council, seeks to promote a greater awareness of the value of heritage to social cohesion, wellbeing and sustainable economic development.

The SuperValu 2019 Tidy Towns competition was launched today by Mr Michael Ring, Minister for Rural and Community Development.

The competition has evolved to keep in line with our ever changing culture but it still holds those same qualities and aspirations to make our place better, to instill pride in our community and to protect our landscape and heritage to hand on to the generations to come after us. The efforts of committees to address issues such as climate change and to bring about behavioural change with regard to issues such as littering are to be commended. Increased awareness of nature and biodiversity in our surroundings are also, in part, thanks to the actions of our TidyTowns committees.

The Heritage Council is delighted to once again sponsor "The Heritage Award" which seeks to recognise the wonderful work being carried our at community level for heritage.
