Heritage Ireland 2030

The Heritage Council has today welcomed the new national heritage plan - Heritage Ireland 2030. A Framework for Heritage.

The plan was published by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage this afternoon.

Commenting, Chief Executive of the Heritage Council, Virginia Teehan said: “Today is a positive day for all of us who cherish our heritage. This new plan lays the foundations for progress in the protection, conservation, promotion and management of Ireland’s heritage for the coming years.

“Ireland is known across the world for its heritage – it is invaluable, not just to tourism and the wider economy, but also to the well-being of all who live in our beautiful country. It is important that, at last, we have an all-of-Government strategy for heritage: Heritage Ireland 2030 represents an important opportunity for Ireland’s heritage to contribute even more to our communities and places. This strategy sets out where we need to be in 2030 to ensure a flourishing sector and puts forward a pathway as to how we will achieve it. We, at the Heritage Council, look forward to working with the Minister and the Department to play our part in helping to realise this ambitious plan.”
