The Heritage Council is recruiting heritage specialists for our Heritage in Schools Post‑Primary programme. 

The Heritage Council is recruiting heritage specialists for our Heritage in Schools Post‑Primary programme.

This programme will partially fund visits to post‑primary schools by specialists working in one or more areas of Ireland’s natural, built, or cultural heritage. It will serve all year groups at post‑primary level, highlighting heritage connections across the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle curricula.

If you have expertise in any aspect of heritage and would like to share your knowledge and skills with the next generation while being paid for your work, we encourage you to apply.

Areas of Expertise

We welcome specialists from a wide range of heritage fields, including (but not limited to):

  • Local, oral, national, public and global history, including family history and genealogy
  • Archaeology and material culture
  • Local geography
  • Historical architecture
  • Cultural or built heritage conservation
  • Heritage of underrepresented or marginalised groups
  • Irish language, literature and folklore
  • Traditional Irish music
  • Ecology, biodiversity and geology
  • Natural heritage conservation
  • Traditional heritage skills, including traditional crafts and built‑heritage skills

Interested specialists can apply by responding to our call for tenders on www.etenders.gov.ie.

  1. Register as a supplier on eTenders. Register your account online.
  2. Familiarise yourself with how to submit a tender response. Learn more.
  3. Submit your response to our call for tenders through your eTenders account.

Deadline

Deadline for applications is Monday, 6th July 2026 at noon.
