More than 180 projects across Ireland will share €1.5 million under two special grant schemes run by The Heritage Council. The funding will boost local economies, grow tourism, and enhance community spirit by supporting local heritage projects.
Eleven museums have received accreditation under the prestigious Museum Standards Programme for Ireland from the Heritage Council.
Sixty-eight projects have shared in funding of €538,968 awarded under the Heritage Council’s Community Heritage Scheme.
The funding supported 1624 ‘working days’ in the sector.
The Heritage Council marked its 25th birthday with the planting of a special Irish Golden Yew tree at its grounds in Kilkenny by Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Malcolm Noonan, TD.
A total of €1.5 million has been allocated for the heritage-led regeneration of towns around the country.
