The Heritage Council offices will open their doors for Heritage Week this year with lectures on conservation, architecture and archaeology and tours of the lovely building, the former Bishops Palace.

Saving an Abandoned Medieval Town - The Heritage Council, Church Lane Kilkenny

Rindoon, Co. Roscommon is perhaps the most impressive abandoned medieval town in either Ireland or the UK. During his presentation, Liam Mannix, the Irish Walled Towns Network Project Manager, will discuss its conservation and opening up to visitors. Tour of the Former Bishop's Palace - The Heritage Council, Church Lane Kilkenny

Since its construction seven centuries ago, the Bishop's Palace has been one at the core of religious and civic life in the city. The tour is a great opportunity to visit this fascinating building. Places for tours are allocated on a first come basis. Numbers are limited.
Community Archaeology in Ireland – The Heritage Council, Church Lane Kilkenny

'Fis na Fuiseoige' Film Screening - Kilkenny Castle, Kilkenny City

A film screening hosted by the Heritage Council of the award-winning documentary film 'Fis na Fuiseoige' (The Lark's View), a one-hour award-winning documentary directed by Aodh Ó Coileáin. The film explores the connection between people and place, as expressed in Irish-language poetry and local lore. Q & A session with the director after the screening.
