Nore Flow, Co. Kilkenny

Nore Flow, Co. Kilkenny

Fancy a re engagement with the river, a chance to dive into its archaeology, to swim in its poetic and musical rhythms, to crawl through its biodiversity, to do the backstroke through its social and economic history, to float in its metaphor and when all that's done to have plenty of fun?

Thomastown Community River Trust is proud to present a month long celebration of the river entitled "NORE FLOW" June 1st to July 1st 2012.

Our celebration opens with what promises to be a fascinating experience on Friday 1st June entitled "NORE FLOW" We have brought together three artists Iarla O'Lionard, Sean Nós singer, who will present a piece entitled "A River People," poet Michael Coady who will read from some of his river poetry and a fantastic group entitled '"The Water Project" an electroacustic ensemble who will use actual river Nore water to create an original music piece. This event promises to generate a subtle kilowatt or two and open up some new channels of experience."Not to be missed !!".

Throughout the month and on each successive Sunday we offer a variety of illustrated talks on many aspects of our beautiful river heritage.

The month long event culminates on Sunday July 1st with "The Thomastown Regatta" which will see exciting Cot Racing, Water Polo, Aquabatics, Medieval pavilions, with medieval people doing medieval things, archery and lots more fun and interesting events for young and old alike. After the regatta we will host a Ceile Mór in conjunction with Sessions House Arts Centre, so bring your dancing shoes.

All would not be possible but for our main sponsor State Street, for Kilkenny Leader Partnership and The Heritage Council who have also  kindly supported this and many more of our endeavours.
