Managing Guided Walks, Trails and Events and their Impact

Aims of the event

  • To help providers, managers and policymakers understand contemporary patterns of rural recreation and the implications for countryside management;
  • To provide advice on the social issues that arise when communities are affected by intensive use of their local countryside;
  • To present practical solutions for managing the environmental effects of concentrated recreational visits;
  • To introduce delegates to the practical application of environmental impact assessment;
  • To identify the safety issues arising from the growth of large scale events;

Target Audience Countryside managers, event organisers and policy staff involved in providing and managing routes, trails and events in rural and urban countryside where formal and unplanned events are a feature.
