Welcome to Planning
The Heritage Council’s role in relation to planning is to ensure that local, county, regional, national and trans-boundary planning policies, objectives and programmes include stipulations for the proper planning, conservation and management of our national heritage. To this end, and in accordance with the provisions set out by the Heritage Act, 1995 [PDF 96KB], we provide policy advice to various levels of Government and prepare detailed submissions to Local Authorities and An Bord Pleanála in relation to planning applications which impact on heritage assets, we also provide professional planning and multi-disciplinary landscape management training.
