Call for Papers-Partnership & Participation: Community Archaeology in Ireland Publication
For a publication on community archaeology project outcomes nationwide.
Community participation in archaeology has become increasingly popular over recent years. From surveys, excavations, and field-walking to tourism, heritage and art-based projects, people have been engaging with the sites and monuments in their locality.
To date there has been a lack of opportunity to share results generated through community archaeology beyond local audiences. The aim of this volume is two-fold. First is to provide and outlet for the results of the varied and interesting projects being undertaken by community groups. The second is to facilitate further critical and reflective discussion of community archaeology. For purposes of this publication the understanding of community archaeology is wide, encompassing any phase of archaeological work or aspect of heritage management that focuses on the intersections between archaeology, heritage and communities-the more viewpoints the better!
This Heritage Council-supported publication will bring the results of these projects and experiences to a wider audience. In order to encompass all the different perspectives of those involved in community archaeology, submissions are welcome from participants, archaeologists, regulatory authorities, academics, advocates and even opponents of community archaeology in Ireland.
Papers should be
