Tender: 'Architectural Conservation Areas as a vehicle for heritage-led urban renewal'
The Heritage Council seeks tenders for a research study on 'Architectural Conservation Areas as a vehicle for heritage-led urban renewal'.
The aim is to understand how the designation works in practice, how it might aid or hinder heritage-led socio-economic regeneration in Ireland by studying two Cork Architectural Conservation Areas, one in Youghal Town and one at Blackpool in Cork City. Additionally the terms seek to explore how to gather quantitative information on Architectural Conservation Areas that make them monitorable, from architectural heritage, social, economic and environmental perspectives. The study is being carried out in partnership with Cork City and Cork County Councils. The study is built on recommendations in the Heritage Council’s Policy Proposals for Ireland’s Towns, launched in 2015.
