The Heritage Council, National Gallery of Ireland, National Library of Ireland, and Trinity College Library, Dublin, are pleased to offer three internships in conservation. Two will be in paper and book conservation (NLI, TCD) and one in painting conservation (NGI). The internships will be based in Dublin and run for nine months depending on each institution’s requirements, commencing in October or November 2010. These internships are part funded by the Heritage Council as part of its promotion of conservation standards across Ireland.
The successful candidates will work under the supervision of the Head of each institution’s conservation department, and will have an opportunity to work with a number of conservators with expertise in relevant techniques. There will also be opportunities for the intern to experience the broad range of conservation and preservation projects currently underway in the department.
Candidates should be recent graduates of a recognised conservation training program, (or have equivalent experience). Applicants should have enough experience to be able to work with a degree of independence. Applicants must also be eligible to live and work in Ireland.
Stipend: €20,000 (subject to statutory deductions)
