Collections of diverse objects such as books, coins, vintage cars, boats and farm machinery provide a link with our past. The preservation of such collections is an important part our Museums and Archive work.

The voluntary Transport Museum Society displays 55 historic vehicles out of its collection of 170 in converted farm buildings beside historic Howth Castle. There are trams, buses, lorries, vans, fire engines, military and public utility vehicles. Horse, electric, steam, petrol and diesel power are represented. The oldest verifiable items date from 1883, the most recent to1989.
