The Irish Agricultural Museum is set in the extensive farm buildings of Johnstown Castle and features many aspects of rural life and activities. The exhibitions cover farm and rural transport, rural crafts, all the major farming activities as well as the activities of the farmyard and farm dwelling.

The museum accommodates a large exhibition on the history of the potato and the 1840s Great Famine.
