Situated in the heart of Dublin, the Chester Beatty Library is an art museum and library which houses the great collection of manuscripts, miniature paintings, prints, drawings, rare books and some decorative arts assembled by Sir Alfred Chester Beatty (1875-1968). Egyptian papyrus texts, beautifully illuminated copies of the Qur’an, the Bible, European medieval and renaissance manuscripts are among the highlights of the collection. Turkish and Persian miniatures and striking Buddhist paintings are also on display, as are Chinese dragon robes and Japanese woodblock prints. In its diversity, the collection captures much of the richness of human creative expression from about 2700 BC to the present day. The Library was named Irish Museum of the Year in 2000 and European Museum of the Year in 2002.
Is i lár chathair Bhaile ?tha Cliath atá sé seo. Istigh ann tá obair ealaíne maraon le leabharlann curtha le chéile ag Sior Alfred Chester Beatty (1875-1968). Ina measc siúd tá lámhscríbhinní, mionphictiúirí, priontaí, líníochtaí, leabhair neamhchoitianta agus ornáidíocht. Feicfear téacsanna Éigipteacha ar phaipir, an Qur’an maisithe, an Bíobla. Is cuid suntais iad na lámhscríbhinní Eorpacha ós na Meánaoiseanna agus ó aimsir na hAthbheochana. Tá saibhreas cruthaitheach an chine daonna go léir anso ó 2700 roimh Chríost, mar shampla, mionphictiúirí ón dTuirc is ón bPeirs, pictiúirí Búdaíocha, róbaí dragún ón tSín agus priontaí Seapánacha ar adhmad.
