Welcome to the Marine
According to the Heritage Act, 1995 [PDF96KB], maritime heritage includes both terrestrial and water-based elements; including fisheries, wildlife habitats, flora and fauna, seascapes, wrecks, coastal monuments and other features of archaeological interest or importance. The Heritage Council manages our maritine heritage in a number of ways, including: proposing policy to Government on marine and coastal heritage; ensuring that marine heritage issues in coastal and marine affairs are dealt with in an integrated and sustainable manner; and raising awareness of coastal and marine heritage.
