The Heritage Council is involved in many initiatives to protect, preserve and enhance our heritage. In this section you will find information about our initiatives related to Marine.
Climate Change Review
The Heritage Council and Fáilte Ireland commissioned this review to inform policy, research and grant support. The main findings of the review show that the heritage of the coast is at particular risk, which will impact on related tourism activities too.

MARINE INITIATIVE
Heritage and Traditional Boats
In 2007, the Heritage Council set up a working group on Maritime and Inland Waterways Collections which advises on how best to proceed with the recommendations of an Audit of Maritime Collections, published in 2006.
Marine and Coastal Heritage Directory
This web-based directory on marine and coastal heritage provides an information source for those initiating or taking part in projects in the coastal zone.

Previous Initiatives
BiblioMara
In November 2002, the Heritage Council commissioned the Coastal and Marine Resources Centre (CMRC) in Cork to compile BiblioMara, an annotated, indexed bibliography on the cultural and built heritage of the Irish coastal zone.

with marine biologist Dr Sarah Varian in the National Sea Life Centre Bray. Starts 11th August.

Ireland's Coastline Seaweed
This poster/publication explores the contemporary and historical uses of seaweed, the role of seaweed in biodiversity and provides references for further information.
