2011 - Irish Walled Towns Network Forum and AGM

The 2011 Irish Walled Towns Network Forum and AGM was recently held in the shadow of the Dublin’s medieval wall at the Wood Quay Venue. A major aspect of the Network is the annual Walled Towns Day. Last year the IWTN provided €77,000 to eleven towns across the country to run the event. Accordingly, in order to aid the local organising committees much of the Forum focused on developing each groups’ event management capability. Speakers included Colm Croffy of AOIFE, Jack McGouran from the Cork Jazz Festival and Fleadh Ceoil PRO Martin Gaffney. Representatives from the Buttevant and Carrigtwohill medieval festivals also told of their own experiences. Following the presentations a workshop was held to reflect upon what is positive about Walled Towns Day and what should change.
