The Irish Green Building Council is organising a number of events for World Green Building Week including an evening seminar in DIT with BREEAM Communities Manager, Helen Pineo on Monday 17th of September at 17:00. This event specifically addresses the theme of World Green Building Week 2012 which is Green Buildings for Great Communities.
Helen will present the recently revised version of BREEAM Communities. This presentation will look at how BREEAM Communities fits within the existing masterplanning process to guide the design team through planning a sustainable community. This newly updated scheme takes account of the importance of the planning process, the role of the community and other stakeholders and feedback from those who used the original scheme.
World Green Building Week shines a spotlight on the key role of buildings in conserving resources, saving money and creating jobs while providing healthier places to live, work and play. In September, the WorldGBC will unite 90 nations representing more than 20,000 organisations as they hold conferences, tours, educational events, and gatherings to mark this week. This year’s theme is ‘Green Buildings for Great Communities’, highlighting the role of green buildings in creating greener and healthier neighborhoods, communities and cities.
