Expanding our knowledge of wildlife in Ireland has always been one of the Heritage Council’s highest priorities. This led to the establishment of the National Biodiversity Data Centre which was launched officially in January 2007.

RECREATION INITIATIVE
The Pilgrim Paths
The Pilgrim Paths project was set up by the Heritage Council in 1997. In association with local communities, its objective is the development of a network of walking routes along medieval pilgrimage paths.
