Access to Historic Buildings & Places - Conference - National Disability Authority

The National Disability Authority and the Department of Arts Heritage and the Gaeltacht are hosting a one day conference on access to historic buildings and places on Wednesday, 30th May 2012.

This event will take place in the Presidents Hall, formerly the Chapel of the Blue Coat School, at the Law Society, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7. This conference will be of interest to anyone involved in operating, managing or maintaining historic buildings and facilities.

The target audience includes facilities managers, design teams, architectural conservation and heritage officers, conservation architects, building control officers, access officers, and planners. It will help to identify the balance between improvements in accessibility with protecting the integrity of the building or facility.

It will draw on local and international best practices, and the findings of two relevant recent publications (both available from www.nda.ie): - Code of Practice for Accessible Heritage Sites, from the National Disability Authority - Access: Improving the Accessibility of Historic Buildings and Places, from the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht (also available from www.ahg.gov.ie)
