Drawing Workshop: Fusing Drawing and Science

Photographic Exhibition: The Cherry Blossom

Renowned visual artist Doreen Kennedy has created an evocative exhibition that explores the exquisite beauty of cherry blossoms, and highlights their transience. This exhibition includes portraits of cherry blossom trees, along with prints that explore the short cycle of the cherry blossom's flowers. Doreen Kennedy lives in Dublin, and works with lens-based media including photography, photo-montage and film. She has exhibited her work both in Ireland and internationally.
Children's Art Workshop with Niamh Synnott

If looking for a creative activity for your little ones on a Saturday afternoon now that the summer holidays are here? Check out the Children's Art workshop in the National Botanic Gardens! This two-hour art workshop uses nature and the fabulous surrounds of the gardens to help inspire budding artists. The workshop is suitable for eight to twelve year olds. Green Man/Wild Man at the National Botanic Gardens

Award-winning illustrator Jim Kay comes to the Gardens to talk about his fascination with the Green Man and the role of green things in his children's books. Lots will have seen Jim Kay's extraordinary illustrations for Patrick Ness's 'A Monster Calls' (2011). A must for young art and book lovers. Saturday is Family Day at Kilmacurragh this July and August!

Join in the family friendly events, you can take a self-guided trail around the stunning gardens, join a Junior Botany workshop, or take a guided tour suitable for all the family, explaining all about trees.
