Archaeology Beneath our Feet - Walking Tour of Kilkenny

A walking tour around the city guided by archaeologist Sinead Marshall, visiting the sites of some interesting excavations that took place in Kilkenny over the last 20 years. The walk will cover sites between St. Canice’s Cathedral and Kilkenny Castle, taking in excavations sites including Grace’s Castle, the Courthouse and Kieran Street along the way.

Most recent Kilkenny excavations are still in post-excavation, research and analysis phases and have not been published yet. In the meantime the public is in the dark about the archaeology beneath their feet.

Children’s activity sheets will be provided on the walk including simple questions about what can be seen in the area of the sites visited during the tour.
