Irish Seedsavers Association Website Launch

"Irish Seed Savers Association exists as a living testimony to the richness and wealth of the agricultural legacy of our ancestors."

The organisation which is a registered charity and non-governmental organisation was founded by Anita Hayes in 1991 and is located in Capparoe, Scarriff, Co. Clare.

The Irish Seed Savers Association aims to:

1. Protect, conserve and utilise Irish plant genetic resources including rare heritage seeds, grains, vegetables and fruit.
2. Promote agricultural biodiversity for food security.
3. Educate the public on agricultural biodiversity and food security through information and workshops
4. Research seed, grain, vegetable and fruit varieties suited to Ireland’s temperate maritime climate.

The new Irish Seed Savers Association website provides a wealth of information on cultivating hritage fruit and vegetables, preserving biodiversity, workshops and visits to its farm site in Co. Clare.

The site also highlights the work the of the oganisation in researching, locating, preserving and using traditional varieties and cultivars of fruit, vegetables, potatoes and grains.
