Heritage as an Engine of Economic Growth - Workshop Waterford

The Heritage Council is pleased to announce that the next event in this highly successful series will take place in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. The 'Heritage as an Engine' workshop series is generating an increased awareness of the opportunities for enterprise and business development based on Ireland's unique local heritage. The event will be of interest to heritage practitioners, business people, entrepreneurs and community representatives.
The workshop will explore the potential of the heritage sector and opportunities for growth in both city and county. Michael Walsh, Waterford City Manager, and Bernadette Guest, Waterford County Heritage Officer, will open the proceedings with a discussion of the economic potential of the recorded heritage of the county and achievements to date.
The programme of enterprise speakers has been specially selected to showcase the diversity and vibrancy of Waterford's unique heritage sector. Lismore Castle Arts and Gardens and the Suir Valley Railway will explore the important role of built heritage in achieving economic sustainability. The Cooper Coast GeoPark and Dunhill EcoPark's HERCULES Project will focus on natural heritage and the importance of place. While M&D Bakery will discuss the cultural heritage of the Waterford Blaa. Various business support agencies will be in attendance to answer your questions and queries.
The workshop is designed to foster business networks and develop sustainable enterprise opportunities locally and nationally. It is hoped that the county workshops will support the sector's continued development and reinvigoration.
