Our architectural heritage is one of the most tangible aspects of our heritage. By conserving our historic buildings we help to preserve them for future generations to enjoy as part of their heritage, just as we do now.

Since 2003, the Heritage Council has helped to plan for the conservation of Russborough House, Co. Wicklow. Designed by Richard Castles and completed in about 1750, Russborough House perhaps one of the finest and most intact Georgian houses in the country. With a fine collection of paintings and objets d’art, it is owned and maintained by the Beit Foundation. The Foundation is seeking to make the house and surrounding landscaped grounds accessible to the public. Council provided €2,000,000 in funding to the conservation and restoration of the house in the period 2002 until 2007.
